Disclaimer

This page sets out what microhuv is, what it is not, and the limits of what general information on a website can promise. It applies to every page on this domain.

1. General information only

Everything on microhuv is published for general information. It describes common behaviour of printers, scanners and multi-function devices so that a reader can work out what is happening and what to try next. It is not technical advice about a particular machine, and it is not a substitute for the instructions supplied with a device or for the judgement of someone who can see the equipment.

Printers vary a great deal, even within the same model year. A step described here may not apply to your machine, may be described under a different name on yours, or may be unsafe on a particular configuration. When a guide and the manual for your device disagree, the manual takes priority.

2. Independence

microhuv is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, associated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, authorised by, licensed by, reviewed by or connected in any way to any printer manufacturer, brand, product vendor, retailer, distributor, repair company, service network, software company, advertising agency or other third party.

No page on this website has been commissioned, written, edited, reviewed or approved by any party with a commercial interest in the outcome. No content has been paid for. No brand can buy a mention, a placement, a recommendation or a change to a guide.

microhuv is not a member of, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any certification, accreditation, regulatory or trade body. Nothing on this site should be read as a statement of compliance with any such scheme.

3. Accuracy

Content is prepared with care and reviewed on a regular basis, and each guide carries a last-reviewed date. Even so, no representation or warranty, express or implied, is given that the information is complete, current, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose.

  • Menus and screens change between software versions and between manufacturers.
  • Fault descriptions are generalised, so a real machine may present a symptom differently.
  • Instructions that involve opening a printer apply only to designs that allow it. Many models are designed to be opened only by a technician.
  • Guidance about when to stop troubleshooting reflects cost and risk judgements, not guarantees of outcome.

Nothing on this website should be relied on as the basis for a purchasing decision, a contractual commitment, or any decision affecting the safety of a device, an electrical installation, or a person.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, microhuv and anyone involved in producing this website accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website or its content. This includes direct loss, indirect loss, loss of profit, loss of data, loss of business, loss of goodwill, and damage to equipment.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

This limitation applies regardless of whether the loss was foreseeable, whether advice on this website was followed, and whether advice on this website was followed correctly.

5. Safety, warranties and your own equipment

Printers, especially laser and multi-function devices, contain parts that can cause injury or damage: hot surfaces, high-voltage sections, moving rollers, cutting mechanisms and sharp edges.

  • Always disconnect the power before opening a printer, not merely place it in standby.
  • Do not place hands inside a paper path or an imaging unit while a machine is powered.
  • Do not open or modify any enclosure marked for technician access only.
  • Follow the safety instructions supplied with your device. Those instructions take priority over anything on this website.
  • Keep ventilation clear around laser machines and never look into a laser aperture.

Carrying out any step on this website is entirely at your own risk. The information is free to read and free of charge precisely because nobody can be responsible for the outcome on your particular machine.

6. Trade marks and brand names

microhuv deliberately describes printers in general terms and avoids naming makes and models. Where a brand, product, operating system or company name appears in a quotation or where it is unavoidable for clarity, it is the property of its respective owner and is used for identification only.

All such names remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on this website does not imply any connection, sponsorship, endorsement, approval or authorisation between their owners and microhuv. Any such implication, if drawn, is a mistake and should be reported so it can be corrected.

7. Software, drivers and downloads

microhuv does not host, distribute, mirror or link to driver packages, firmware, installers, cleaning utilities or “printer fix” tools. Where a guide mentions obtaining software, it means using the manufacturer's own website or the operating system's built-in mechanism.

Software obtained from unofficial sources is a common cause of the very faults these guides describe, and installing it can make a machine behave in ways that look like hardware failure. Any attempt to make a device run a file it is not designed to run may also void its warranty.

8. External links

This website contains few outbound links, all of which go to pages written by us. Where a link does point elsewhere in future, it will be to a manufacturer or an operating system vendor for a page that the reader has deliberately chosen to open. microhuv does not control third-party pages and is not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices.

9. When a machine needs attention

Guides on this site are written for faults a person can reasonably deal with at a desk. A machine that has burned odours, makes grinding or clicking noises inside, has a damaged power cable, or has been involved in a spill should be disconnected and not used until someone qualified has examined it.

For a machine under warranty, the manufacturer's own service channel is the appropriate route. microhuv has no connection to any of them.

10. Content and reuse

Unless a page states otherwise, text on this website may be quoted with a clear link back to the page it came from. Larger republication requires permission — see the Terms and Conditions. Graphics and vector illustrations on this site are not covered by the quotation allowance unless stated.

11. Changes to this disclaimer

This disclaimer may be revised as the website develops. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed, and the version published on the site at the time you read it is the version that applies to your use of it.

Questions about anything on this page can be sent through the contact page. The related pages are the Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions.

Ten guides, no brand names

microhuv is an independent website. Guides describe printers in general terms so the same steps work on any machine.
